Allison Hallowell Whitcomb III

Allison Hallowell Whitcomb III died on May 11, 2010 at Chestnut Hill Hospital, he was 64 years old. He was born at Women's Medical of Philadelphia the son of Eleanor nee O'Grince and the late Allison Whitcomb.

He attended Wissahickon schools and went on to be a school bus driver and driver trainer for 30 years until his retirement in 1999. After retirement he served as a substitute driver and also worked for First Student from 2008 to present.

Al was a member of the United States Navy Submarine Fleet. He was a member of St John's Lutheran Church, Centre Square. He served as president of the Southeastern PA Antique Truck Club and President of Philadelphia Chapter of the American Truck Historical Society. Al was also active with the Ambler Car Show Committee, Model A Club and he participated in many local and national School Bus Safety Competitions.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Patricia (Magill) Whitcomb. He is also survived by a son, David Michael of Pleasanton, California and two daughters, Heather Ann Whitcomb of Naples, Florida and Colleen Elizabeth Robin Whitcomb of Ambler, PA and three grand children.

A funeral service will be held at St John's Lutheran Church, 1802 Skippack Pike, Centre Square PA on Saturday May 15th, 2010 at 10am. Pastor William Welther will be officiating.

A viewing will be held on Friday May 14th, 2010 from 6PM to 8PM at Shaeff-Myers Funeral Home, 145 Tennis Ave, Ambler, PA.

Internment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to Southeastern PA Chapter of the Antique Truck Club, 232 west 11th ave, Conshohocken PA 19428.
